Sam has a blanket to which he is very attached. He *found* this blanket when we were visiting my parents at Christmas -- it actually belonged to my nephew, Aidan -- and it's a good thing Aidan wasn't attached to this blanket, too! The blanket has become Sam's security object, and we take it with us when we go places I know will be stressful for him (like meeting large groups of people, especially men, or going to new houses, etc.). He has to have the blanket with him for naptime and bedtime, and loves to put the blanket on me and then lay on top of the blanket. This blanket, which started off a lovely off-white, is now a dingy looking grey and has several disturbing stains that don't come out in the laundry. I try to steal it away at least twice a week to be washed, and those hours can be very stressful for Sam as he waits to get his blanket back from the washing machine and dryer!

Ben has recently taken an interest in Sam's blanket -- and I'm not sure why. Perhaps it is because he gets a great reaction out of Sam if he steals the blanket and crawls away. Or maybe he likes the blanket because he likes Sam and associates the blanket with Sam. For whatever reason, there is a lot of blanket-stealing going on in the house, which leads to a lot of crying from Sam, and a lot of fight-mediating for Mommy!
Here are a few pictures of Ben and his absolute glee after stealing the blanket ... And then the *remorse* after being busted for making Sam cry!

Oh man, I do love these boys! Too freakin cute.
Oh, man this is too funny! You're right - Ben's glee in stealing is hysterical!
Are you thinking of trying to find a #2 spare in case something happens to #1?
Harper has always loved a certain blanket - just like Sam's, though hers is a ladybug. But she's never *had* to have it with her. This past week she started always wanting this other blanket with her AT ALL TIMES. I was getting ready to blog about it.
Great moms think alike. :)
